Terms and Conditions

By submitting the online application form and accepting a place on Noam camp you agree that you are aware of, and that you and your child (as appropriate) will abide by, the following terms and conditions.

1. An application does not guarantee a place on camp. An applicant is only accepted as a participant once confirmation of an applicant's place has been sent.

2. Please note it is very important that

a) you disclose to us, in writing, all material information about your child that we need to take good care of your child when on camp and

b) in particular, you complete the Noam Medical Form fully and accurately and submit it by the due date.

3. Noam reserves the right to decline and application and cancel a child's place on camp for any reason at any stage, in particular, if you fail to comply with paragraph 2, or any part of your contract with Noam. Noam will only cancel a child's place before camp if, in Noam's reasonable opinion, it is appropriate to do so. Regarding all applications, the decision of the Mazkir (National Director) is final.

4. If Noam cancels in accordance with paragraph 3, Noam reserves the right to retain your deposit and may return any other payment received at Noam's discretion.

5. If you cancel a place on any camp after May 31st, you must pay a cancellation charge equal to 50% of the cost of a place on that camp. If you cancel a place on any camp after June 14th you must pay a cancellation charge equal to 100% of the total cost of a place on that camp. The deposit per child is non-refundable in all cases of cancellation.

6. Final payments for camp must be received by 17th May 2010. Failure to pay by the due date may result in your child(ren) losing their places on camp.

7. All chanichim (participants) are expected to behave according to the rules of camp. Failure to comply with any of these rules will result in disciplinary action. Noam reserves the right to send home any participant at the discretion of the Rosh Machaneh (head of camp) for breach of any of the camp rules, including in particular the following camp rules:

  • Any person found to be using, under the influence of, or in possession of drugs (including solvents) may be sent home immediately and may be suspended from future involvement in Noam.
  • Any person found to be using, under the influence of, or in possession of alcohol may be sent home immediately.
  • Any chanich/a found to be using or in possession of Pro-Plus (or similar substances) may be given a formal warning by their Rosh and may be removed from activities or sent home.
  • Smoking is prohibited at all Noam Machanot (camps). At all stages, any cigarettes found in the possession of the chanich/a may be confiscated and destroyed in front of him/her by the Rosh. Anyone found to have been smoking inside will be sent home immediately.

  • Chanichim must not leave the group or site without the express permission of their Madrichim. Any chanich/a who leaves the group unsupervised may be sent home immediately.

  • Bullying and other forms of anti-social behaviour are not tolerated in Noam, and may result in serious disciplinary action.
  • Chanichim must not damage the site, equipment or other people's property. All damage, whether accidental or intentional will be charged to parents/guardians (at Noam's discretion) up to six months after the end of camp. Intentional damage will result in disciplinary action.
  • Possession of and use of firearms, replicas or imitation knives or any other weapons is forbidden. Anyone found to be in possession of such an item will be sent home.
  • All chanichim are expected to participate fully in all activities.

8. The participant's parent/s or legal guardian/s are liable for all expenses incurred as a result of a participant being sent home. These may include (but are not limited to) national or international travel expenses e.g. petrol or cab fares, train fares, airline fares (France camps) and any other expenses incurred by our staff. In most cases, at the discretion of the Rosh Machaneh, parents or legal guardians may be requested to collect their child who is being sent home. Any child that is to be sent home will be isolated from the group immediately and returned to their parents at the earliest possible opportunity.

9. Non-disclosure of medical information is grounds for immediate removal of a member from camp. Parent/s or guardian/s must keep Noam updated with any changes in medical information between the date of application and the date of the end of camp. Failure to do so may result in the participant being sent home.

10. Noam reserves the right to send home any participant who in the opinion of Noam is not considered medically fit to continue on an event/camp.

11. There will be no refunds if a participant is sent home for any reason. Any outstanding amounts due (including instalments) will be payable.

12. Parents or guardians must examine participant's hair before camp and ensure to the best of their knowledge that they do not have head lice at the start of camp. You authorise Noam staff to use medicated shampoo to treat head lice should the need arise on camp.

13. Parent/s or guardian/s must not send a child to camp, if the child has had instances of vomiting and/or diarrhoea during the preceding 48 hours before departure for camp, until such a time as a doctor has certified that child fit to join camp.

14. Parents or guardians must not send a child to camp, if the child has presented flu like symptoms and/or high temperature during the preceding 48 hours before departure for camp, until such a time as a doctor has certified that child non-infectious and fit to join camp.

15. Any participant presenting flu-like symptoms or symptoms of a contagious illness at any point during camp may be temporarily isolated from the group, and (subject to the medical opinion of the resident paramedics and/or local GP / hospital doctors), parents/guardians may be required to collect the participant and take them home. Parents/guardians who plan to be on holiday during camp must have arrangements in place for a nominated adult to collect their child(ren) should the need arise. At the discretion of the Rosh Machaneh, for the protection of the group, participants who return home under this procedure will not be allowed to return to camp.

16. Parents will be aware (for example as a result of the effects of swine flu) that having a large number of people living and sleeping on one site could increase the risk of a localised outbreak of an infection or a contagious disease. Noam has contingency plans in place. We ask you to be a responsible parent, in the interests of your child and all participants. Therefore we require you to pay close attention to paragraphs 9, 13 and 14 of these terms and conditions. If you knowingly breach any of these paragraphs, we must inform you that, as a term of your contract with Noam, Noam reserves the right to hold you liable for all or any costs and expenses (eg medical, travel, quarantine etc.) that may be incurred as a result of your child bringing an infection into camp, in circumstances where you have knowingly breached the terms of paragraphs 9, 13 and/or 14.

17. Arrears for previous Noam events may result in a participant being barred from future Noam events until such amounts are paid in full.

18. We regret we cannot accept liability, pay compensation or return payment, save to the extent that Noam is reimbursed by its suppliers, where a camp is curtailed or restricted or affected by, or you otherwise suffer any damage, loss or expense of any nature, as a result of 'force majeure.' 'Force majeure' means any event which Noam or the supplier of the service(s) in question could not, even with due care, foresee or avoid. Such events may include war or threat of war, riot, civil strife, terrorist activity (actual or threatened), industrial dispute, natural or nuclear disaster, adverse weather conditions, fire, failure on the part of our service providers and all similar events outside Noam's control.

19. Save to the extent required by law, we will not be responsible or pay you or your child compensation for any injury, illness, death, loss, damage, expense, cost or other claim of any description which results from:

a) the act(s) and/or omission(s) of the person(s) affected;

b) the act(s) and/or omissions(s) of a third party and which were unforeseeable or unavoidable;

c) unusual or unforeseeable circumstances beyond our control, the consequences of which could not have been avoided even if due care had been exercised;

d) an event which either ourselves, our agents or suppliers and subcontractors could not, even with due care, have foreseen or forestalled.

20. By accepting a place on camp you accept responsibility for any damage or loss caused by your child. Full payment for any such damage or loss must be paid direct to Noam within 14 days of Noam notifying you that you are liable for such damage or loss.

21. Noam has its own Public Liability Insurance but will not insure or be held responsible for parents', guardians' or participants' losses that should be covered by personal travel insurance (including by way of example only, personal belongings, cancellation, delay and/or medical insurance). It is strongly recommended that parents/guardians obtain adequate travel insurance for their child(ren) and any possessions they intend to take to Camp.

22. IMPORTANT NOTE FOR FRANCE CAMPS: The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) provides entitlement to state medical care in Europe. However, in France, all state medical treatment is charged for at point of service, and the EHIC card does not entitle the holder to free treatment in French doctors' surgeries or hospitals. Hospital visits in France can be expensive and Noam will bill parents/guardians for any medical costs incurred during France Camp. Noam therefore strongly urges parents/guardians of participants going on France Camp to take out adequate insurance to cover potential hospital bills and/or other medical treatment for the duration of Camp.

23. Obtaining one off travel insurance for children need not be expensive. However parents/guardians should make sure that they comply with any pre-existing medical condition disclosure requirements of their policy and check that any family policy covers children travelling without parents/guardians.
